Congratulations on completing the program! With these tools, you are ready to live your life from the inside out. That means that whatever is going on outside cannot impact your inner peace and your joy. To help you understand this concept, we created our Wisdom Symbol. The Wisdom Symbol represents the foundational messages at the heart of The Wisdom Coalition. These messages are:

  • WE control our core energy

  • Choosing joy impacts our thoughts, actions and emotions

  • Staying connected to our WHY (Y) enables us to find, fuel and feel more joy

  • Focusing on joy allows us to live our lives from the inside out

The Wisdom Symbol is representative of the mind, body spirit connection. As we actively seek joy by focusing on the positive aspects in life, we build our joy muscle. In this way, we are fueling our core energy with joy, which then impacts our thoughts (mind), our actions (body) and our emotions (spirit.)

The Wisdom Coalition is founded on the idea that we each must set the intention to change our mindset so we can find more joy in every aspect of our lives. Fundamental to this is the understanding that in order to change our mindset, we need to understand and dissect what our mindset really is. We need to resist acting without thinking, speaking without reflecting and living without being connected to who we really are.

As we grapple for the meaning of life and our place in this world, we probably can agree that life comes with an avalanche of hardships, and joy isn’t going to show up on our doorsteps in a neat little box with a ribbon on top. No, we actually have to work at it. Every day. Every day, if we want more joy, we have to understand how to find it. We have to understand that we have to build an inner world of self-compassion, self-forgiveness and self-love to be able to clean the slate that we will fill with the words that give us meaning, inner peace and joy. What is joy anyway? The dictionary says it’s “a feeling of great pleasure and happiness.” But we would contend that there is an important difference between joy and happiness. Joy is an attitude and happiness is an emotion. Happiness is dependent on outside circumstances; while joy comes from within! We certainly can’t control other people’s actions or emotions (nor should we!) but we can control how we choose to respond with our attitude and our actions. We can choose joy regardless of the outside circumstances as long as we understand who we are and love our whole being.

Now that you have completed all three elements, we invite you to take the assessment again to see where you are now in your heart and mindset.

Final Activity

Create a Missing Peace Supply Kit

Everything in this program is designed to give you strength from within. Sometimes, because of life’s challenges, disappointments and setbacks, you can have trouble connecting with and feeling fulfillment and peace with your inner self. It happens to all of us. There are times when you find yourself drowning as the surf of life kicks up around you. To prepare and to make sure you keep your head above water, we invite you to create your own life preserver to remind yourself of your worth, strength and beauty.

This will be a project unique to you! Your Missing Peace Supply Kit will look different from someone else’s and that’s what makes it so powerful. It will be a tool you can refer to again and again, whenever you need it.

To begin, find yourself a container that is meaningful to you. This can be a pretty box that you decorate or a container you already have with a design you like.

In the container that you identify, put in these elements:

  • The exercises you did in this program (your journal, worksheets and letters)

  • Put in a symbol that reminds you of a time when you were very strong (a medal, a photograph, a letter of recommendation)

  • Find a picture of yourself as a young child so you can remember your own purity, innocence and potential

  • Find something that soothes you, comforts you and makes you feel fulfilled

  • Identify a symbol of a goal that you are working toward and put that in the supply kit as a symbol of confidence

  • Focus on something you love about yourself and find a symbol of that.

Fill your supply kit with things that will remind you of self-compassion, self-forgiveness and self-love.

When you are feeling weak or defeated or unloving toward yourself, reach for your supply kit to remind you that you know how to fill the spaces inside yourself with good things, with love and kindness and forgiveness.

This supply kit is something you can make as large or small as you like. It’s something you can keep with you and update from time to time. Let it be a comfort to you and an affirmation of the wonderful person that you are!
