We all have pain in our lives and many of us have the tendency to hold on to feelings of resentment, anger and shame. Maybe we want others to know what we’ve suffered or maybe we ruminate on it for other reasons. My friend, you need to figure out what you’re holding on to and why. Bravery is tackling your own weaknesses. You can’t sit around and wait for someone else to take away your pain. YOU have to actively give it up. Find your pain, throw it away and make more room in your mind and your heart for joy! Only you can release yourself from those toxic feelings you are hanging on to. It’s your choice.

 

Remember that your life on this earth has an end. If you’re not actively seeking joy, not making the best of every minute, you’re wasting time!! Why ruminate on your pain? Why hold on to feelings that don’t give you joy. Get rid of them!! Throw them away as forcefully as you can. Demand more from and for yourself. Create the kind of inner world you would want for your children, your best friend or anyone else you love.

 

Take a look inside yourself and pull those negative feelings out of that comfy couch in your mind. Realize that you have to take responsibility for your life, your relationships, your health and your own well-being.

Activity:

  • Take a clean sheet of paper. 

  • Write down all of the things that are holding you back and/or stealing your joy.

  • Read them over one time.

  • Then crumple up the paper and throw it across the room with enthusiasm to physically release them and you from their negative hold on your life.
